FDA approves Foundayo (orforglipron), a non-peptide GLP-1 pill for obesity

The FDA approved Eli Lilly's orforglipron (Foundayo), a once-daily oral GLP-1 receptor agonist for adults with obesity, or overweight with weight-related conditions. Unlike semaglutide, orforglipron is a small molecule rather than a peptide, so it can be taken at any time of day without food or water restrictions. In its 72-week phase 3 trial, users lost about 11% of body weight on average, and Lilly set self-pay prices starting at $149 a month for the lowest dose.
