OP18 helps cultured immune cells clear traps formed after radiation exposure

Dit item wordt in het Engels getoond tot de vertaling is bijgewerkt.

A study in Frontiers in Immunology tested OP18, an experimental peptide with 18 amino acids, in cultured mouse macrophages, a type of immune cell. OP18 increased uptake and breakdown of extracellular traps, webs of DNA and proteins released by macrophages exposed to radiation. Cells clearing these traps showed improved energy metabolism and increased release of the anti-inflammatory signal IL-10. These cell experiments do not establish protection from radiation injury or clinical benefit in people.
