Eli Lilly reported phase 2b results for investigational eloralintide with tirzepatide in 367 adults with overweight or obesity and type 2 diabetes. At 48 weeks, the combination group with the largest mean weight reduction lost 23.3%, compared with 14.8% for tirzepatide alone and 3.0% for placebo, using an analysis that assumes participants remained on treatment. Adverse events led to treatment discontinuation in 10.8% to 27.0% of combination recipients, versus 2.9% with tirzepatide alone and 16.7% with placebo; stomach and intestinal events were most common. These company-reported conference results concern an investigational combination, with phase 3 studies still planned at the time of the announcement.
