WADA keeps GLP-1 drugs off its 2027 Prohibited List and continues monitoring

The World Anti-Doping Agency's Executive Committee confirmed that GLP-1 receptor agonists such as semaglutide and tirzepatide will not be banned under the 2027 Prohibited List, which takes effect on January 1, 2027. They stay in WADA's Monitoring Program, which tracks use through testing without sanctions, while the agency gathers data on possible performance effects and misuse. Semaglutide entered the monitoring program in 2024 and tirzepatide in 2026.
