Petrelintide phase 2 trial reports weight loss in adults with type 2 diabetes

Zealand Pharma reported preliminary results from ZUPREME-2, a phase 2 trial of petrelintide in 220 adults with overweight or obesity and type 2 diabetes. At 28 weeks, mean weight loss was 7.4% to 9.2% across study groups versus 2.0% with placebo, using an analysis that assumes participants remained on treatment. Gastrointestinal side effects led 1.9% of petrelintide recipients and 1.7% of placebo recipients to stop treatment. Petrelintide remains investigational, and these findings are a company topline report.
