Novo's amycretin injection shows 22% weight loss at 36 weeks in early-stage trial

Novo Nordisk reported topline results from a phase 1b/2a trial of once-weekly subcutaneous amycretin, a single molecule that activates both GLP-1 and amylin receptors, in 125 people with overweight or obesity. Estimated weight loss was 9.7% on 1.25 mg at 20 weeks, 16.2% on 5 mg at 28 weeks and 22.0% on 20 mg at 36 weeks, while placebo groups gained 1.9% to 2.3%. Side effects were mostly mild to moderate gastrointestinal events, and full results were later published in The Lancet.
