Novo Nordisk launches NovoCare Pharmacy selling Wegovy at $499 a month to cash payers
Novo Nordisk opened NovoCare Pharmacy, a direct-to-patient channel offering every dose of Wegovy (semaglutide) for $499 a month with home delivery, for uninsured people and those whose insurance excludes obesity drugs. The company presented it as a way to get the FDA-approved product instead of compounded semaglutide as shortage-era compounding wound down. It followed Eli Lilly's August 2024 launch of lower-priced Zepbound (tirzepatide) vials through its own LillyDirect self-pay pharmacy.
